Back in April, when I booked this trip spanning multiple countries, I was curious how I would feel once the departure date got closer and closer. With Sunday quickly approaching, I can now say I have my waves of complete excitement and the occasional what the heck am I doing moments.
Now that the travel arranging, visa and medical processes are over, I have started the packing process. Even though this is the longest trip I’ve ever taken, I’m trying my hardest not to pack like it is. Thanks to the invention of Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets, and more hotels with these facilities, I only plan on packing for a week. Since I’m going from oceans to mountains to deserts, I hope to perfect the art of layering in order to be comfy in all elements. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I also have to keep reminding myself that I’m not exactly going to 3rd world countries, and a major goal of this trip is to experience the world, whether or not I smell nice doing it. This being said, who knows if my 3 oz. of toiletries will last all 5 weeks, but this doesn’t need to be something I focus on.
Five more days to mentally and physically prepare myself for what I’m about to do. I don’t want to think too much into it, I’m going to need plenty of head-space to take it all in. I see this week as an extension of my travel experience. How you deal with planning for a trip is just as important as what you do once you get there. Being the well-planned traveler like I am, I shouldn’t have too much to worry about. I also plan to go with the flow.
