A wine and cheese party in one! Kiwis really know how to do it up right. If you like cheese and you like wine, why not combine the two? The amazing minds at the Gibbston Valley Cheesery did just that. They soaked their cheddar cheese in wine and wrapped it up. She had me at Pinot Noir! Unfortunately they don’t ship to the states, but I was told the folks in Napa do something similar.

The Cheesery was just one of the stops I took this morning on my last tour of the NZ countryside. After sampling the dairy, we moved on to the wine, which was equally tasty.

The longest stop was in quaint Arrowtown, which kept its old tyme gold rush roots. Along the one road main street of town you can still find all the basics, pharmacy, post office, bakery etc., along with a museum and your typical tourist shops. So you get both the comforts of home with a splash of history.

I’m going to miss these mountain ranges, roadside farms and rustic views, but I’m ready to move on and see what the rest of the world has to offer!
