After three flights and about three hours sleep, I finally made it to my destination, and it sure was worth it. First we flew over the Andes Mountains, and then they became the stunning backdrop to an hour drive from Cusco to the Sacred Valley. While some may think the mostly brown landscape with smatterings of greenery leaves much to be desired, I think it complements the surroundings quite well. The roadside remenances of ancient Inca civilizations blends into the mountains so well you may think they were painted there. The brightly colored clothing of the locals also stands out from the earthy environment. Now, sitting here in what I can only describe as a serene Sacred Valley oasis, hotel just doesn’t do it justice, I can’t think of a better way to acclamate to this new country and new experiences to come.
